Help me learn to babywear - Page 2

My daughter also had reflux and I carried her all the time. I had 4 different kinds of carriers. She preferred different ones depending on her moods. I used the Dr. Sears Balboa sling when she was active and awake, she too didn't like to be too close at that time, and the Ergo when sleeping. Although her reflux got a lot better around 7 months, she continued to be a bit high needs and even though she is almost 2, I still use both slings regularly for different reasons.

If you use a two ring type sling you can fold over one side by a couple of inches, so that your infants legs will hang out. That will give your infant more freedom to move his legs around.

I have used a sling, stretchy wrap, woven wrap and a mei tai style wrap. My son did not liked his legs tucked in as a newborn or his head covered. I just went with the flow. Both of my babies fussed & screamed if I put them in when they had to pee. I found if I took them out, let them pee, changed the diaper & put them back in they'd be fine.

Wow thanks for all the responses!  I have not logged in in awhile because, well.. Noah keeps me busy!  I am reading Dr. Sears' book "The Fussy Baby" and he is definitely "high needs."

At any rate, I did try him in a "Snugli" carrier someone had given me at my baby shower.  He does seem to like it a lot but it is a lot of work to get him in it and it's SUPER warm.  I dont' dare use it when the weather is hot.

I wasn't able to locate any local babywearing groups (I'm near Superior, WI/Duluth, MN) but did find a La Leche League.  I'm planning on attending the next meeting for breastfeeding issues.

I also have a friend who is from Korea.  She loves the mei tai and is going to show me how to use it.  She's also going to pick me up a few more carriers to try.
