I know this is probably normal, but I have to post anyway. Yesterday we were out and about all day and DD didn't get to nap much because she's so sensitive to noise. I tried to get her to nap in sling at lunch, and at church, but we were going and going all day. She slept really well last night and slept most of the day today. Like I think she was awake for a total of 4 hours. Does that seem odd, or normal for not getting much sleep the day before? She's 6 weeks old. She fell asleep at 6:15 tonight and I woke her at 8:15 to nurse her and give her a bath. She's out again.

My DD has done similar sleep "binges." When she was just over six weeks (she's eight weeks now), there were four days where she hardly napped at all--just little cat naps. I talked to someone at The Fussy Baby Network and she said that six week olds have so many new things to process, it can be hard for them to shut their brains down--lots of development happening! But then that very night, she slept 5.5 hours (her longest stretch yet!) and we could hardly wake her up at all for the next three days or so. I suspect it's normal--enjoy it while it lasts! I say that because I mentioned it to my pediatrician and he just smiled--if it were cause for concern I hope he would have said something? Hope that helps.
