My DD has been complaining for some time now that her vulva/vaginal area itches. Â I'm trying to figure out what to do about it. Â After doing some research on the internet, I'm thinking perhaps it is vulvovaginitis, but obviously, I'm not a dr. Â Any other thoughts about it, and how to treat it? Â I'm going to speak with her about hygiene and cleaning to make sure she is not using soap on those areas. Â I don't think she is, and she's always been very careful about wiping well. Â I would love to hear from any other moms who have dealt with this with their DDs. Â

She is the only one of all my children who is complaining about itching, though. Â It seems, like at the very least, DD2 would also have pinworms, since they often share a shower, sleep together, underwear (although that would be clean, not going from one bottom to the other, lol), play together, etc. Â
Â
I did talk to her about it tonight. Â She said she hasn't noticed any bad odors, no clumpy discharge (just a normal wetness occasionally). Â
Â
I may have her use a light cream and see if that helps. Â If it doesn't, I guess I'll make an appt. with the NP to see what she thinks.

What about the TP would cause itching? Â We just use plain white TP, whatever, not any specific brand. Â Forgot to ask her about using soap. Â We use a F&C detergent, because we have sensitive skinned people here. Â
Â
Ugh... I just don't even want to think about it being pinworms. Â Not one bit. Â It grosses me out, lol. Â I guess I'm going to have to suck it up and deal with the possibility.

The chemical process used to make TP is not what I would call body friendly. I am a bit sensitive myself, so I use flannel wipes as well as cloth pads.
We also make our own detergent that costs about 2 cents per load.
