Suri Mae Leanne - homebirth June 20 :)

11 days overdue yesterday.  By this point, I had tried 8 rounds of acupuncture, homeopathic induction, 2 stretch and sweeps and nothing seemed to be going on.  Yesterday morning, my midwife suggested we see if the old remedy of castor oil would work.  By 1pm I was in early labour.  Thought things were slowing down midafternoon so started some homeopathy to increase and regulate the contractions.   Midwife checked and I was 3-4cms.  She checked a while later and i was still only 4cm.  Midwife decided to head out to a nearby shop and let me labour on my own.  Things progressed rapidly from there.  An hour later, I pushed out her head into her Daddy's hands as the midwife raced up the stairs.  Our 2nd midwife wasn't even there for any of it because it all happened so quickly.  She crawled up my chest to nurse and has been a nursing champ every since!

I was a hypnobabies student but was not very diligent on learning it due to trying to finish off a different course before babe's arrival.  The only track I listened to while birthing was the birthing day affirmations.  It was soooo relaxing!

So, short story: Suri Mae Leanne, born at home 8:03pm after an hour of active labour.  8lbs 5oz.  A great way to end my birthing 'career' :)

A great way indeed! She's so lovely!

FWIW the birthing affirmations is my fave for labour. The one meant for labour - which I only recently listened to when not in labour (curious) - was goofy sounding and had a lot that has never applied to me. The affirmations are all sweet and help focus.

I had read your birth story and had actually hoped for a similar one! Am so glad it worked out that way.  Wouldn't have minded a full UC but was glad the midwife came to make sure everything was okay.  Hope you're on the mend too :)

I totally agree - kept me focused and on task and reminded me that all was happening the way it meant to. Loved these affirmations.  Hope they work well for you again..shortly!
