Yay Tear and little baby!
Val you're next!
Hooray Tear!!! So exciting to see everyone having their babies!
Doing well here. Still a little bit of icky brown spotting, but the midwife said not to worry. I'm still taking it easy just in case, though. Can't hurt to rest and be good to myself. Yesterday that included making some yummy peanut butter dark chocolate chip cookies.
Quick question for you guys.....anyone deal with restless legs? I had a little bit of that before I was pregnant and it's getting so much worse. Any tips or solutions?? I was up for an hour and a half with it at 4:00 this morning. Ugh.
Holy moley! I have company, so I haven't been on very much, and there's now two new babies on our thread! That's downright crazy!
Congratulations, Livingsky and Tear! Livingsky, I'm glad that Kayden came out so soon, I know you were really ready for it. I hope the adjustment period is all smooth sailing for both families!
And congratulations to you too, Meander, I'm so glad that Alaric is doing so well and is now considered to be normally healthy. What a relief. I imagine it's hard for everyone to adjust to the new-baby sounds and responsibilities, but I bet it's much harder when you've been so worried for his health already.
Hokie - I'm with you on the restless legs - it sucks! I used to be able to find some relief sleeping on my stomach for some reason, but that's out of the question now. I have found that the restless legs are worse when my iron is low - since I've upped the iron in my diet, my legs haven't bothered me as much. Good luck, I know it's tough!
LivingSky - Glad to hear everything is going well! I'll be heading over to read your birth story in a few minutes. Continued good wishes for your new family!!
So my belly hit a growth spurt over the past week - I've actually outgrown some of my maternity shirts. Since I refuse to buy anymore since I only have about ten weeks to go, my waredrobe will be getting smaller and smaller (in more way than one). ;)
LivingSky I'm so glad to hear you got the birth you wanted! I love that you got a midwife that would stand with you, that's just really awesome. Congrats to you and your DH!
I discovered my restless legs are probably due to a calcium deficiency. My acupuncturist took me off dairy when we were trying to get pregnant and my guess is that I didn't supplement well with leafy greens since she also took me off raw foods. I got some Viactive chews on Saturday and successfully slept without any problems last night. Well......any problems related to my legs. The main water line to our house broke last night, unbeknownst to us, and I laid in bed awake for a couple hours trying to figure out why I was hearing running water. Our A/C broke last night, too. It's definitely a Monday.
Melting here, too, Val. Also have a heat index over 100, and supposed to get worse tomorrow. Our A/C broke the other night, but we were thankfully able to get it fixed the next day so we got it back before it got just stupid hot.
No more spotting, just sick and tired, which I'll absolutely take any day. I can eat pretty much anything after about 4pm. Up until then, it's a total crapshoot. I can eat 1/2 my breakfast, then I have to wait half an hour, then I can eat the other half. Weird stuff like that. Manageable, though, and temporary!!
that IS exciting Hokie! Books new are so expensive. There are so many books I want to read too! I have the sears birth book and the baby book and I like what I have read in them so far.
I am doing pretty good. My belly feels like it is going to expload! I just feels so full and big all the time. I love it. My back has been doing pretty good. I hope if I keep going to the chiro that the pain will stay away. Most of the pain is from when I have hard days at work so I have been actively trying to take it easy while I am there and not try and do things that stress it too much. Sometimes I can't help it though, it all depends on what dogs I have for the day.
On the bad but could be way worse front I have poison ivy on my face! I have a small patch under my eye and one on my chin. I am stressed about it cause it itches and I can't touch it. But I am normally EXTREMELY allergic to poison ivy. Like I have had it so bad that I couldn't see for a month because my eyes were swollen shut. Once I get it one place it gets in my blood and my whole body reacts and I usually have to take a steriod benedryl coctail for the whole summer. When I mentioned this to my midwife at the end of spring she said I may be lucky and because I am pregnant my immune system is supressed and my body most likely won't react as strongly to it and boy was she right! I have had it in random spots throughout the summer and it hasn't blown up or spread that much. I am also really careful and trained not to touch it at all. I think I need to be pregnant every summer! No, not really but it definatly has been a good break from this rediculous allergy.
hokie - Yay for the exhaustion and sickness! That would sound wierd to say to a non-pregnant person, but I know it's very reassuring during early pregnancy. I never had the sickness, but the exhaustion was bad enough on its own. You are right, though, it is temporary - should be clearing up in the next month or so far you.
Tank - That's interesting about the pregnancy making your poison ivy allergy BETTER. I would have thought it would have been the opposite, but hey, whatever works! Take it easy at work and be careful with your back. It seems much easier to injure your back when you're carrying so much extra weight up front.
Hope everyone else is doing well! LivingSky, Meander, and Tear - hope both babies and moms are doing great!
birdie - I'm coping with the heat, that's about it. It's ridiculously hot, but I know it's like that over much of the country, so at least in my misery I have a lot of company. As for the gaining weight thing, I totally get that one with you. I used to be overweight but had lost about thirty pounds, so watching that scale tick back up is torture. You are vegetarian too, right? If not, I must be hainvg a pregnancy-brain moment - it happens. Anyway, my doctor keeps telling me he's not worried about my weight gain because vegetarians tend to eat healthy anyway, so as long as I'm eating healthy stuff, my body will do what it needs to do. So far, he's been right. And amazingly enough, you can gain belly without gaining a lot of weight. My belly had a recent growth spurt, but I still lost 1/2 a pound. Bottom line, as long as you're being healthy and taking care of your and baby, I wouldn't worry a bit about the weight gain. Easier said than done, I know.
LivingSky - Ugh, I hate that the forum ate your post!!! But thanks for sharing the picture. He's so cute!!! And that's quite a head-full of hair that he has.
Livingsky I LOVE the new pic of you and Kayden! I am so jealous! I want to see what my little guy looks like so bad.
You guys are going to hate me because I haven't gained a pound yet. I was sort of worried but my midwife isn't because I am eating healthy and I started out a bit overweight anyway. I also just lost some weight before getting pregnant (the first) time and even though I haven't "gained" weight when I started getting bigger I was really self concious of how I looked. It was sort of weird for me because I have never been the self concious type. I have always been a little overweight but never cared because I eat really healthy and feel really healthy and naturally have a big bust and butt. I am getting better now because I am more looking pregnant than just looking like I am gaining unnecessary weight. I was wearing a size 16 before I lost weight and I am glad because I can wear most of my shorts from last year still (but definatly not the 10/12s I was in before I got knocked up.)
