Does Ontario do second parent adoptions, and if so, do they do them for non residents? And again, if so, what is involved? My googlefu isn't working very well, and I haven't had much luck finding out for myself.
Yes, Ontario does second parent adoptions (we just signed our paperwork today and are now in the 21 day waiting period). You'll likely need to talk to a lawyer about the non-resident thing. I have lawyer recommendations in Toronto or Ottawa if needed.
They're unlikely to find any info in the public domain about adoption in Ontario. It's this closely guarded secret that lawyers keep ;) We couldn't find any information about the process or the forms, but perhaps they could get them at a courthouse.
