For pregnant moms that used garlic for yeast/ BV I have a few questions..

So I read a lot in these forums about using garlic to get rid of BV and yeast

well I took antibiotics for an ear infection (before I got pregnant) then I wound up with a mild yeast infection which took about 2 weeks to get rid of, which in return gave me a nasty case of BV (tmi-green and yellow discharge, itchy) so I was prescribed metrodizole (sp?) took that twice a day for 7 days along with the metro gel, my doctor said it was gone but I said I was still itching and he "didn't know why I was itching" pfft. Anyways 2 days later discharge metro didn't work for it. So I sucked it up and tried the garlic thing last night (inserting it) and the itching stopped! so I again inserted it last night but I had to pee really bad a couple hours later and then I just inserted one this morning. I left in it for a good 4 hours and my question

when it come out it turned yellow? like neon yellow? is that normal?!?!? plus I had really really thick yellow and green discharge (tmi) left right behind it, but ahhh I don't itch!

also- how long does this take to usually work? I heard 1 night then I heard 3 days etc. One day obviously didn't cut it for me.. yet.

also I tried ACV rinses, did not work, been taking pearls probiotics for 2 weeks, eating and apply plain yogurt with live and active cultures.

I would really like to hurry up and kick this thing! I heard it was dangerous while pregnant and a midwife (not mine, but a close friends mom is a midwife) and she told me to eat garlic all day, she said to add it in all my food, but I never asked her about inserting it.

sorry this is long but prescription crap isn't working for me!!!

I am 6 weeks.

(ps sorry this is long but I desperate!)

I don't have any answers for you, sorry. But I can tell you that the garlic isn't going to hurt anything. You could use it for a week or two without any negative effects, so don't worry about using it for too long.

Coconut oil is great for getting rid of bad bacteria and fungus while leaving good bacteria alone. It also soothes the itch. I mixed my probiotic with coconut oil (not extra virgin, I hear it doesn't play as nice with the good bacteria) and apply it regularly just to make sure everything is what it should be in time for the birth. smile.gif

I hope you can get this figured out soon.. sounds miserable!

I went and saw my doctor today and he said the metro stuff for BV gave me ANOTHER yeast infection, he said everything was inflamed and so were my cervix, the metro stuff also gave me thrush in my throat.

I NEVER get this stuff! I had my first yeast infection 6 months ago (I think it's because I experimented with cloth toilet paper...)

and I just want this to stop!

he gave me cream that's kinda like monistat 7, and also gave me liquid stuff to rinse and swallow for the thrush. I hope to God I never ever have to get yeast or BV again as long as I live! this has been going on for over a month and my doctor was just like "you must be so miserable"

I love natural remedies but I really just want this gone =/. It's so stubborn!

Well I tried the cream stuff one night and it the itchyness has gone down, also no burning, slight discharge. The thrush seems to be better (but not gone) after one day. So hopefully after this week it will be gone. Then my husband also is showing sings of a yeast infection so.. he is going to get treated too =/. Nasty little things!

does anyone know of good ways to prevents yeast infections? like eating garlic, drinking cranberry juice, eating yogurt, wearing cotton underwear etc.

Lay off of sugar for a while ...like allllll sugar.  Fructose, Dextrose, corn syrup, sugar cane all of it...if it tastes sweet, dont eat it.   Also - ask the doc on this one but i think you and DH can pass it back and forth to each other - so maybe lay off sex for a while as well.

I always relied on vinegar for a yeast infection.  three capfulls of white vinegar daily for 3 - 5 days.  Vinegar rinse (1 part vinegar 3 parts warm water mixed in a water bottle works well!)  for itchiness as needed.

You are on 'real' meds now stay on them, avoid sugar and have some vinegar in your diet for a while to prevent it coming back.    I have never heard that a yeast infection is in anyway dangerous for a baby.

We don't have sex we are waiting both of us to be completely treated. Also I have been basically starving myself and only eating veggies because fruit even has natural sugar, and I did vinegar rinses, baths, drinks, etc etc. It helped relieve it for a few hours but after 2 weeks of this I was just like.. yeah this is not working.

I have been trying everything in the book to get rid of this and it just wont go away.

I had yeast, then yeast and bv then bv and now yeast, ug! I am tired of feeling dirty and being "extra careful" of what I eat. Morning sickness is killing me and most of the veggies I eat make me sick to my stomach. I can't even eat toast or crackers to help with vomiting because it has yeast in them. it sucks.
