Car window tinting cling film question and other thoughts on car window shades

Hi - How on earth do you get the cling film type window shade on straight and without bubbles? Mine is a mess and I've tried and tried. It's also peeling at the corners and comes off very easily. DS2 is very fussy in the car and needs the windows shaded. This stuff is very effective but it looks ghastly. I have the Eddie Bauer brand - are there some brands that are better/worse than others?

While we're on the subject, I noticed that the roller-type shades now have little clips at the top so that they clasp over the top of the window and then get wedged in place when the window is up all the way. This seems to me to be much more secure than the old suction cup type but I am still wary of using them for fear that they could become projectiles in a sudden stop or impact situation. Are they or aren't they acceptable to use?

Thanks for your help!

Hubby said it needs to be wet, and you use like a squeegie (sp?) to get the water and bubbles out.

FYI hubby just went and got windows prof tinted, especially since we have a regular window and a little triangle one. MUCH MUCH worth the price. I don't even know if eddie bower thing would cover our window completely. Its more $$ but since we plan more kids, CERTAINLY worth it.

P.S. hubby is very handy but said that he would not be able to make it look good if he did it himself
