I'm so torn and confused!  I wish the "professionals" could just make up their minds.  Is he delayed? Autistic? Asperger's? None of the above?  I don't want to push him to play with the other kids if he's just not ready, or like me, a preferred loner.  If you push a loner to be social all day, it's exhausting and could make him hate daycare.

So what is developmental therapy?  Do kids normally get this kind of therapy if they aren't on the spectrum?  Do I have any reason to be concerned that they are pushing him too much or overdiagnosing?

My son's OT brought it up for Ds when he was 6yo, in a "I think this is something you should ask your doctor about" type manner, but she did not offer it as a diagnosis.

I suggest going to a developmental pediatrician for a more in depth evaluation as no one you have ask or has commented is qualified to diagnose ASDs; diagnosis (Asperger's is 8yo, I think due to the wide variety of development before that age) is more complicated that he does/doesn't do/not do this/that. The outcome of an evaluation for Asperger's at this age would probably be that they would recommend therapy for whatever aspect of his development could use help, and continue to reevaluate him as he ages.
