Need some quick advice regarding hives on 10 month old

Hi - my 10 month old got some pasta carbonara last night...just didnt dawn on me about the egg in it!   his AM he is covered in hives.  Now normally i would take him to the pediatrician - however, car is in the shop and i am facing a 60 - 90 minute bus ride and i am trying to decide if it is neccessary!

He seems to be in a good mood, ate breakfast, is nursing just fine, doesnt seem to be trying to scratch them - anyone have any experience with this?  Is there 'baby Benydryll'  (he is over 25lbs)  or will this clear up on its own?  would a cornstarch bath help?

Any BTDT advice is welcome!  thanks mamas!

There's no baby Benedryl, but you can probably give him a small dose of children's Benedryl. I don't recall the dose, but have you tried calling the doctor, or the nurses line? Sometimes they can just give you advice over the phone and you won't have to come in. Or talk to the pharmacist and see what they advise.

Are you sure they are hives from the food, and not a rash from an illness? Babies get viral rashes very often.

Yea - as an update i called in to teh ped - since i am new there i was certain they wouldnt give me advice over the phone - but i was wrong!  they said 1/2 teas childrens benadryl   - he has had two doses and it is at least 50% better.  He has no other symptoms - no cough, cold, stomach, crankiness etc...and i recall my MIL telling me my DH had a similar reaction to eggs when he was about this age.   He seems to be doing pretty well - thanks for the response!
