Belly cast!

My friend helped me make a belly cast today and it turned out really cool!



After the plaster is totally dry, I still need to sand it, prime it, and paint it. I'm not sure how I'm going to paint it yet but I'm leaning towards keeping it simple--I've seen ones painted a bronze color and I think that looks pretty & classy, but I don't think I want to pay for bronze paint so I'll probably use the paints I already have. I want to finish it before the baby comes, and I *think* I have enough time.

Is anyone else making one?

I made one! I'll try and get some pics of it to post. Last pregnancy, we made the mistake of not lubing my body very well, and it took almost an hour to get the cast off!  This time my boobs got slightly stuck in the cast and DH found that very funny when we were pulling the cast off.

Both times I used band-aids over my nipples (I didn't want nipple marks on my cast/my nipples were too sensitive to be adhered to plaster), so there's bandaid prints on the inside of both casts, very funny.

I just ordered a kit online today which will arrive down here with my doula 3 days after my EDD... I *assume* I'll still be pregnant then :) Really looking forward to making one!

We did one just a few nights ago..I am really pleased with how it turned out! There are a couple of places that need more plaster strips to make it thicker and more durable, so I hope to fix that soon. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it..I will probably paint it and hang it in the girls' room. The process was super simple, but as it dried, it pulled every teeny tiny hair out of my body lol my mom and hubby thought it was funny. I really wish I would've done one with my first daughter Yours is beautiful, radicaleel!

Okay, I finished painting it! I went with a heaven-and-earth, fishies and birdies theme. Very watery and airy. I love it! It's hanging in my bedroom.

Here is a picture from my casting party last night. I think they did a really great job. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it! I'm thinking painting, or a poem. I'm still not sure.

radicaleel, I love the water and sky theme! You did a great job! I also think it's neat you did a shoulder and a hand. Very different from most I've seen (like mine) that is just bust and belly.
