My little guy, 11 months, has Down syndrome.  He has been a superstar since birth--fantastic breastfeeder, zero health problems, active and social.  We're starting to try more solid foods now that he coming up on the big Number One, and he seems to like them (some more than others).  I started out always using my finger; now we usually use a spoon.  So, although as a general thing he does NOT stick his tongue out, he has begun to do it with every bite of food.  There is no gag--it's just part of the eating process.  I don't want it to become a habit.  I will be talking to his speech therapist, but was wondering if anyone else had any good ides.
