I did find a link but it seems they are all CNMW. How do i find a MW that is lower cost? We are on a tight budget and i do not approve for help for insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Amy

Call Family Birth Services in Grand Prairie. They have a wonderful apprentice program and you can hire an apprentice who will be well supervised by the senior midwife. I believe Lisa is in charge of the apprentice program now...Talk to them about your situation and they will work with you. You can not go wrong with FBS. PM me if you need more help!
Yes, I believe they ^^^ are really good. I've heard nothing but positive things about them.

It might be worth calling the other midwives in the area. HB CNMs are just about as likely as a CPM to do sliding scale, so don't count them out! Try contacting Cori Lively, Dinah Waranch (she has a birth center and also does homebirths), Donna Miller, ummm... there are others out there, my mind is just going blank right now. :) If none of them can work with you on cost, ask them if they know of anyone else who might. dfwareamoms.com may be a good place to ask (I know Cori frequents the forum). There are other birth centers as well, if you are willing to consider that (Lovers Lane - Dinah's - is the only one that I know of that does center and home births). (Though on that note, if you consider Birth and Women's Center, do ask around for others' experience - they tend to be much more on the medicalized side and some people do have concern, just FYI, do what you want just letting you know it's worth asking around first.:)Â

Also, do you have any insurance at all? Or is it Medicaid you applied for that isn't covering you? It might be worth it to post in the homebirth forum if you have insurance that says they won't cover HB - the ladies in there know a whole lot of tricks. If it's Medicaid, it might be worth attempting to appeal, or seeing if there's something you didn't add in that might have made the difference.
