What part of Alabama?  I know some that cover North AL (Madison/Huntsville) and central AL (Birmingham)...haven't heard of many near Mobile that won't want you to hop the border to MS for the birth.

There are no HB midwives in Mobile who will deliver in Mobile. They like to prosecute down here. Women in Mobile who want an HB experience have to go to either MS or FL. :(

There are midwives, I've spoken to one. She is a Christian and is very open about it. I've heard positive things about her from other Christian friends, and negative from an atheist mom. I can pass on info if you'd like.

I would love that information! I am in Mobile and in nursing school. Quite frankly, I have learned too much and want nothing to do with a hospital birth.

Hi ladies  - There is a bill up for a vote in the Alabama legislature that would make it legal for mid-wives to attend hb in Alabama!   If you can, please take the time call the senators on the health care committee and encourage them to support the mid-wife bill (SB314)!!!

Also, please help get the word out to other like minded women in Alabama!

Hi, ladies. I really feel for you. I'm in Florida and trying to have a homebirth but my insurance is with BCBS Alabama so I am suffering from your laws as well. I have supported the ABC efforts for the pending legislation and hope it goes through!
