After nine hours of natural labor and an ambulance ride to a facility with NICU capabilities, Kinsley Addison was born June 18th at 2:11 am via emergency (repeat) c-section. She weighed 5 lbs, 14 oz and is 19.5 inches long. I went to the local L&D because I wasn't feeling "right" and assumed it was because of my blood pressure issues. As soon as they hooked me up to the monitors I began contracting at 8-10 minutes apart. I insisted on a bag of fluids and to stay to rule out dehydration even though the on call OB wanted me to go home. After the first bag of fluids I had progressed from "fingertip" to 2 cm. They decided to do another bag of fluids since my contractions were still far apart. After that bag I had went from 2 cm to 4 cm and the contractions were 2-3 minutes apart. At that point the on call OB decided to transfer me to my regular OB for delivery. By the time the ambulance arrived, I was dilated to 7 cm. Once I finally arrived at the hospital to meet my regular OB, I was fully dilated and ready to push. However, since I was only 36+3 weeks and the amnio had come back showing her lungs were slightly immature we decided to do a c-section.
I'm recovering well and even off my pain meds already, but Kinsley has jaundice. We are doing lots of sunlight. She's nursing like a champ, but for some reason she has been at 5 lbs, 7 oz since Monday, so the pediatrician said for us to nurse and then do an ounce of formula after each feeding.
Will post pics soon!
