How Long Does It Take To Dry Up?

I haven't breastfed for 3 months now and yesterday I was shocked when I noticed some milk spots in my bra.  Out of curiosity I squeezed my breast and was surprised to see some foremilk come out of both.  Does it take a really long time to dry up?  Is there something extra I'm supposed to do?  Can I get an infection from it just sitting in there?

I have a friend that still has milk after 8 years... I think it is normal.

Yeah I have a friend with a 4 year old who weaned a long time ago, and she still lactates.
