22 weeks - Decreased Fetal movement

So as my doctor has been telling me, I have an overly active baby for her age.

I went to the doctor a week ago because  wasn't feeling her move and it had me worried. I had an ultra sound and my little bundle was curled up in a ball fast asleep. My doctor told me not to worry and that around week 22 she wont be moving as much. Well its been 2 or 3 days and she only kicks maybe 5-10 times in a 24 hour period. I know my doctor said its normal and its weird I feel her as much as i do now, but should I go ahead and call my OBGYN tomorrow monring anways? I just want to know shes okay!

I laos have placenta previa, could the position of my placenta possibly prevent me from feeling her?

By all means, go to your OB if you feel like something is "off".

But, yes, this is definitely true. If it is more anterior (or, hopefully, moving up! and maybe now moving more anterior?) It can "muffle" the movement. My 2nd had an anterior placenta and I really never felt movement as much as with my first. My MW for that pregnancy also told me that a baby usually "won't lie on its own placenta" so it may mean a different position in utero...

Yes, my doctor said the placenta has been moving up, i had marginal previa and though its still low its moving! Shes kicking now, so i feel a bit better but im so used to feeling her move constantly! She has her own schedule but has not been following it aas of late.

But thanks! I do feel better and I probably will call the doc in the morning to ease my mind!!

It could definitely be the placenta. Also have you changed your diet lately? Maybe a food you were craving a lot and aren't eating as much now could have caused her to be more active. Have you taken bennadryl? That made my little one a lot less active. Also as they get bigger they move less because there is less room.

I haven't been feeling my baby as much the last few days, either.  I still feel her now and then, so I know she's probably okay.  I wondered if maybe she turned - perhaps I feel her more if she's facing my front and her fingers and toes are poking me in the belly, then I feel it less if she's to the side or toward my back?

Also though, Emilyann - if you're at all worried about it, I totally support going in to let the doctor check it out.  I think pregnant mamas are forgiven a little anxiety.

DITTO about going in if you're worried at all. It's their job to help you, remember they work for you, you don't work for them. It's OK to get reassurance if you need it. I know I've needed a double dose of it this time around.

I went through this, and am still going through this because I don't feel one of the twins very much. I did buy a doppler for home use, and it came yesterday. DH was able to pick up both heartbeats, which is reassuring to me. I have a Dr. appt. on Wednesday and I plan on finding out what babies' positions are, and where the placentas were on the last U/S (I can't remember where they said they were), and if that's why I don't feel the boy baby very much.

I've noticed 2 days in the last few weeks where I just really don't feel much movement. It was concerning the first time, because this baby moves CONSTANTLY. I think baby had just moved to a different position and was just kicking towards my back, which I wouldn't be able to feel as well as when he's kicking the front/sides. By the next morning baby had moved back into a favorable position and was kicking away smile.gif But, by all means, contact your care provider if you are uncertain!

ETA- decreased fetal movement was the first sign for me that something was going wrong with my pregnancy with ds. This was much farther along in the pregnancy, but don't hesitate at any time to get it checked out! I'm so glad I listened to my mama instinct with ds, because if I had waited until my next appointment it could have had a much worse outcome (I had a midwife appointment on a monday, on wednesday I noticed decreased fetal movement, went to the hospital to get it checked out and discovered that between Monday and Wednesday I had developed pre-e. If I had ignored ds's lack of movement I would have waited until the following monday to see the midwife again, and it's anybody's guess as to what could have happened during that time.
