Potty Training Dillema

 Hi There,

Hoping you ladies can help me out. My toddler is almost 21 months old and has been showing much interest in the potty, sitting on it, and SOMEtimes pooping or peeing in it... untill a few days ago. He had not had a bowel movement in a couple days and then when I was in the shower and he was on his potty where I could see him, had half a movement in the potty and half on the floor and on his legs. I admit I was not prepared and I first tried to clean him off on the changing table but then had to bring him in the shower with me. I thought he was happy about it and I made sure to congratulate him and not make a big deal at all about the mess, but since then he has been refusing to sit on the potty for even a minute and has only pooped once, two days ago. I am starting to get worried as he is usually very regular... Should I back off and let him keep his diapers on for a few days? Should I just keep the same routine of sitting him on the potty (but not pressuring him to stay on it) a few times a day? I don't want him to get into the cycle of holding in poop but it seems like we are heading in that direction. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I just logged on to get help with the same problem! We've been diaper free for two weeks and he refuses diapers. He likes peeing on the potty but not pooping and is holding even though he's pooped many times on the potty.

I've just put him back in a diaper in hopes he will go because I'm more worried about him getting impacted/ experiencing pain.

Really haven't read anything on pottying and no idea what is the best thing to do!
