Does this mean anything!!??

Ok- have been through a lot over a few years (like most people here) I have one little boy who is almost 4, and was a surpise! Since having him I have Ovarian cysts, and multiple surgeries and even a torsed ovary. THey told me having another would be near impossible or very difficult. I finally started clomid.  June 1 was day 1 of my cycle (makes it easy huh?) I took clomise days 5-9 and got a OPK pos. on day 17 (so assuming i ovulated around 18 or 19??)  This is the 3rd day in a row, that at the same time of day (around 4p.m.) I started getting a very sick and nauseas feeling. I took 1/2 a phenergan, and drank ginger ale until it subsided.  A few hours later, the nausea is gone, but then I start feeling achy and feverish... I took my temp. all three days and its slightly elevated (98.9, 99.4 etc)  I'm thinking its too early to take a test- but of course I took one tonight (i know should be first thing in the a.m. especially this soon)  but of course was negative.... Has anyone else experienced symptoms this early on?  When I had my first one, I felt "crampy", like PMS, and feverish and achy, all before I knew I was prego.... Anyone felt these things... could it just be clomid related? THANKS!!

Can someone at least tell me they have seen this lol? I was expecting some feedback, and in 5 hours.... nothing?!? I am new to the forum, no sure how it works, did this even show up for people to see?? I would really appreciate some feedback! thanks ;)

Mandy, I'm sorry you aren't getting any feedback. I'm TTA and don't have any LOs so I don't frequent this board (won't be TTC for probably another year).

I've never taken Clomid so I'm not sure. If you O'd on 18, you'd be 9 days past O. I think most tests work that quickly, but I'd test again in a few days. Dollar Tree tests are reliable and affordable if you want to get a few to keep testing. Or wait and see if AF gets here next week.

Best of luck to you on TTC and getting more informative answers than mine!

Hi Mandy.  First, it's my understanding the OPK are not valid when taking Clomid?  Perhaps one of the other ladies has more info on that.  One of the reasons I absolutely despised clomid was that it delayed my normally regular cycle by 2-3 weeks.  Because AF didn't come and my temps remained high, I was convinced I was pregnant because I was never late, felt feverish, and I had cramps and pressure in my uterus.  Only thing was, the hpts were always negative.  I went to the RE only to find out I was indeed carrying 2 or 3 happy, healthy cysts.  I was heartbroken (especially because clomid made me an emotional wreck to begin with).  I was told AF would not come until the cysts were gone.

You could very well be pregnant as it is still a wee bit early, but that was my clomid tale and I've been dreading the second round ever since.

It's hard to respond to this kind of post, because the answer is usually, "Well, you could be pregnant, you could not be pregnant. Good luck and let us know in a few days when you test!"

So... Good luck mama!!

thanks! Its my understanding that clomid can at time interfere- however my Dr. instructed me to use clomid with OPK, so he must feel its worth it. I had NEVER gotten an LH surge show up on a test in the entire two years I had used them... However after finishing my clomid, sure enough a surge was present on day 17.  If we know I ovulated around day 18 or 19, when could I take a preg. test?

Wait until at least CD25, preferably CD29 or later before testing. CD25 is really the earliest possible time for a test to show a positive, but false negatives are common. Really, if you can wait 12 days after ovulation or more, you're more likely to get an accurate response. smile.gif Good luck!

1- a positive opk dosnt mean you have ovulated, it means you body geared up to ovulate...but it cant confirm it. the only way to do that is to chart, and get a clear temp shift. the elevated temps wwould say yes you probably ovulated, but unless you keep taking your temp, you cant be sure of when it happened.

2- clomid wil raise your temp, but only while you are taking the pills. (at leadt for me).

3- opk's detect LH, and LH is still present, and even elevated while taking clomid so opks DO work while on a clomid cycle.

wait a few days and test again is all i can say.

good luck!

Welcome to MDC!!  wave.gif  Some of the forums are more frequented than others so sometimes you'll get lots of very quick responses and others times not so much.   There are several threads for women at different points in their TTC journey and you might find more support joining one of those (like the TTC in our 20's or 30's or even in the infertility forum since you're dealing with clomid) as they tend to be frequented quite a bit.

OPK's can so frequently be inaccurate that many women choose not to rely on them.   Did you notice fertile cervical fluid around the time of the OPK+'s?  Creamy or eggwhite CF?  Also if the OPK's are working for you, the simply show you when your LH surge is building, but do not confirm ovulation.  Only temping will confirm O for you and since you are dealing with a few issues I would highly recommend adding temping to your routine.  You mentioned you took your temp these last few days because you felt feverish, but did you take it first thing in the morning before you got out of bed or just sometime during the day?  To track your BBT you need to take it before you get out of bed, first thing after you wake up, and ideally after a consistent block of sleep (3 hours or more is best).  Generally speaking, women in their luteal phase will have temps in the high 97's-98's, but everyone is a bit different.  If you need help getting going with temping next cycle (if you don't get a BFP this cycle of course!), just post and ask questions!

As for this cycle, we can only guess that you O'd 24-36 hours after your OPK+ on CD 17.  That would put O on CD 18 or 19 and put you currently at 9 or 10 DPO.  While some women do get accurate HPT results this early many don't until around the time of their missed period- usually 12-14 DPO.  If you're feeling very anxious to test you can get dollar store tests (which usually only require an hCG level of 25) and keep testing for the next several days.  Otherwise I would get a First Response Early Response and test in 2-4 days.

It is absolutely possible to experience pregnancy symptoms at this point as implantation usually occurs somewhere between 6 and 12 DPO.  Some women even say they experience symptoms prior to implantation.  I know I had nausea with my first m/c and first full pregnancy at 8 DPO.  Just in case you weren't aware I wanted to throw out there that phenergan is a category C drug.  If you really need something for the nausea, Zofran is category B and Unisom (doxylamine) is category B and OTC (some are now considering it category A even).

Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to Mothering.com!  joy.gifSorry you felt neglected on your first thread.  The time stamps on your posts show only a little over two hours between your first two posts, and a lot of times, it takes a lot more time to get a response, especially on a tough question like yours.  It's really hard to say what that means.  Those could be implantation/early pregnancy symptoms, though it would take a few more days to get a positive pregnancy test.  They could mean you're sick with something else.  They could be side effects from the chlomid.  They could be completely unrelated.  It's really hard to tell.  I hope things become more clear for you soon.  Keep testing every few days and let us know.

THanks so much for all of the info!  Im estimating that I am only 8DPO, Of course being anxious I did take a test thing morning, and of course it was neg! I will test in a few days I believe.. the nausea has continued, actually starting a little earlier today.. THe bloating and "gas" feeling is increasing as well, and several cramps and "PMS" signs.... we will see! Trying not to get my hopes up, but I have never felt symptoms like this other than my first preg. I told my hubby if not prego, I will admit myself for psychiatric eval. b/c I sure and making myself FEEL that way lol ;)
