As UCers, What Do You Use To Augment Contractions?

I was wondering what sort of herbs or oils you ladies use to augment contractions and that will help with excessive bleeding immediately post-partum. I would like to get them well in advance. I'm due in late November, and I want to be prepared for if I do bleed alot post-partum. With my last one(hospital birth), the doctor said I bled a bit more than she liked, so she laid me back down and put the pitocin back on to help with the bleeding. Any help with references to naturally augment contractions & help with bleeding would be greatly appreciated.

you might do a search in the forum, as I know this has been said before. I don't know off hand, because I am not in that head space right now. :)

lol Well, I know I have seen it in older birth stories, but I really didn't want to bother with a search if I could get a straight answer. :P

susan weed's "wise woman's herbal for the childbearing year" is a good resource as is getting online and visiting inhishands.com and looking through their tinctures.

Thank you, lightinmyhands. :) I appreciate it. I found some black and blue cohosh, which does augment contractions. I just want good prices for it. lol I'll look at those references.

nipple stimulation also works really great, as do some various acupuncture points...

I actually know my main 3 accupressure points for natural induction & know a technique for using a breast bump for induction. I found the black and blue cohosh on inhishands.com for $8.50 and I'm getting that too.

I can't say I've ever augmented my contractions or even thought about doing it. shrug.gif

I did use Shepard's Purse to help with heavy bleeding after my last UC. My friend made me up a really strong cup of tea with it and it worked really well.

I have some encapsulated placenta left in the freezer from last time, so I'll probably take some right after the birth this time around. I know some women have just eaten it raw or in a smoothie to help with bleeding, too.
