I have a very long history of hormonal imbalance (adrenal, thyroid, estrogen/progesterone). I really need to find a dr who is thoroughly knowledgeable about hormones and will prescribe bioidentical hormones. How do I find one? I previously contacted our local compounding pharmacies and got referrals, but it turns out that those drs aren't comfortable prescribing hormones for a woman who is not menopausal. Any suggestions? (I'm in Cincinnati if that makes any difference.) TIA!

I'm on bio-idenitical progesterone. I see a naturopath. It has brought my periods down from 16-20 days long to 5 days! You should be able to find a doctor on this website.
For the OP - ND's are not licensed in your state and will not be able to prescribe. Even states where they are licensed - not all can prescribe. I see one in my state and although they are licensed she cannot prescribe. You'll have to find a MD who is willing to see you.
This website has some tips about finding a dco like this http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/how-to-find-a-good-doc/
Have you tried doing an google search? Although I did not find my doc on google, if I type in doctor of conventional alternative medicine and bioidentical hormones - my doc will pop up. For example I just did one for your area and found a few.

Thank you both for your replies! It's really too bad about the naturopath situation. I have done a Google search, but the only dr I've found who mentions both sex hormones (HRT)--which happens to be one of the links you gave-- and thyroid/adrenal is not taking patients any more and that's not expected to change. There's another that just talks about HRT, but I know my adrenal and thyroid issues are very interlinked with my other issues. The BodyLogic.MD sounded good at first, but I've read a lot of reviews saying that they just do the same thing for everyone regardless of lab results. Anyone have experiences with BodyLogic? I would love to hear from someone here about it.
I looked up compounding pharmacies in my area and plan to call them for referrals. I notice that a lot of them provide consultations and interpret labs now. Do you think this is a good approach or would it be better to a dr? I'm off now to check out the Thyroid site you provided to see if they have any other ideas. (Thank you for that! I've just skimmed so far, but it looks like a valuable website!)
Beware of BodyLogic MD. This is a case of good old American Greed. The doctors say they are burnt out and tired of the way medicine is practiced and they want to hormonally make you feel better and live longer. But they will not accept any insurance and want huge cash outlays for office visits and lab testing. They are actually just burnt out from dealing with insurance companies and waiting on checks. They could treat patients same way they are now, but accept their insurance for office visits and prescribe drugs that would be covered instead of unproven bovine adrenal supplements and laxatives and Armour Thyroid. Any good endocrinolgist does not even use Armour Thyroid since it contains T3 . They use levothyroxine T4 which can be regulated by blood testing. The Armour Thyroid gives the patients a rush from the T3 which gives them more energy, making them feel better temporarily. Then they put you on autofill for the supplements so you get monthly shipments you have to pay for . Then they want to have a party in your home to invite your friends so they can have more cash cows to add to their bank balances. This is snake oil medicine and american greed disguised as good intent and living longer.
