We've bought a sunshine kids convertible car seat that I totally love and just figured we'd use that right from the start. Now that a bunch of my friends have just had kids, they all have infant car seats and it seems very handy to be able to just bring the whole car seat in if the baby is sleeping. I really don't want to fall into the trap of carrying my babe around in the car seat all the time - I have a wrap and will be getting a sling as well to carry baby around in and I'd much prefer to have the baby close to me than in a car seat. But, man, it does seem like it would be convenient for times like when I'm visiting my mom or dad and need to bring the baby in but they don't really have anywhere I can safely put the baby while sleeping.
I'm wondering if I should go buy an infant car seat and hold off on installing the sunshine kids convertible car seat at least for the first 6 months or so. I can always install the sunshine kids one reverse-facing once the baby is a little older and start using it.
What worked best for you guys or what are your plans for car seats?
