slurping sound at breast

My LO is 2.5 months, and we have struggled from day one.  She had a PTT and lip tie clipped 3 weeks ago.  She is still making slurping sounds when nursing--from loss of suction, as well as clicking sounds and constantly slipping off breast.  I have done suck training with her--and it helped for a few days but we are back to wrestling to stay latched during each feed, loss of suction, and poor weight gain.  I am going to take her to a chiropractor tomorrow, as well as back to the midwife who clipped her tongue to see if there has been some reattachment, but other than that, I am at my wit's end!  She just will not open her mouth wide enough to latch deep or if she does, she pulls back to a shallow latch as soon as I let down!  Does anyone have any advice, support, ideas?  I am getting so frustrated!  She "gets" it for one feed and then the next feed it's like her first time all over again!

TIA

If she has a "bubble" palate or high arched palate which A LOT of PTT babies have, she still may need to "grow into" it and/or you need to see a cranial sacral therapist. My ds had his lip and ptt clipped also, but he still couldn't latch because my nipple would get lost up in the space of his palate.  He'd clamp down a lot or lose suction. It was like he didn't have anything clipped!  However, we saw a CST who helped SO much.  We went over six weeks, once or twice a week and finally, he could compress the nipple between his tongue and palate.  Ds is nursing mostly okay now, but we're going back for a second clip in a month (he'll be 6 mths old).  It's taken several months for him to nurse effectively enough for me to wean from supplements and get my milk supply up.

I really don't know if it would make any difference, but I'd be really interested to see if it helped; have you tried laid-back nursing (www.biologicalnurturing.com)?

I think she does have a bubble palette.  No one has ever said anything about it, but it feels high to me and she sure can't hold suction.  The really frustrating part is that even the SNS is not working anymore as she can't create enough of a suction to draw the milk in.  I found a CST in Vegas that I think I am going to try.  Can't hurt and might even help.

I'd forgotten about laid back nursing and now that you mention it, some of our best nursing is done at night in a semi-reclined position.  I think I will try that again tonight.
