8 mo. old not gaining weight in 4 months.

I do not know what to do from here.

My son at 4 months old weight 14 pounds. He now weighs 8 months (tomorrow) and weighs 13.2 pounds which is up from 12.8 pounds a month ago. We started him on baby food (from jars) 6 weeks ago. His pediatric gastronologist suggested silent reflux since he wasn't spitting up or vomitting. Started him on Prevacid 3 weeks ago. Saw the pediatric ENT doctor today and he does not feel that the little bit of tongue tie left from when he was clipped at 5 days old is enough to cause him any problems and does not want to cut it. We have a follow up appointment with the peds GI doctor to see if the reflux medicine is working. If it is not, they want to put a camera down his throat. The peds ENT doctor today said that if they go that route then he will clip the remainder tongue tie at that point since he will already be under anesthesia.

When the peds GI doctor prescribed his reflux medicine, she also advised me to start feeding him baby cereal since it has iron in it. Stop feeding baby food from jars because the water content is high and to make my own baby food. Also not to feed him milk, eggs, fish, and citrus foods for possible food intolerance but I could eat them fine. I reiterated that I am breastfeeding and she assured me that was okay. For me not to eliminate them from my diet. To not restrict myself of these foods for my own nutrition.

I am coming on here to make sure that the info I am given is indeed accurate, to find out if I'm missing something that needs to be addressed at any upcoming appointments, and to glean any advice from the wealth of experiences here. If I am posting in the wrong thread please move it.

My goal is to NOT give up breastfeeding. I do not want my baby to have formula. And he spits it out and will not drink it anyways. We've tried quite a few times in desperation from this whole ordeal. (Which I secretly love that he won't take it.)

I would worry that there is a remaining tongue-tie (posterior) that is impeding milk transfer. Are you able to see an IBCLC? Are you trying to increase your supply and transfer?

sorry nak will have to reply later

Yes to increase and transfer.
