Jewelry and Teething

Sorry I'm not sure if I should post this here or in Safety.

I'm wondering about the safety of some of my jewelry with a teething baby. I was just given a large Amber pendant (set in silver) and I'd like to wear it on a long silver chain. DS is teething and everything goes in his mouth so I'm concerned about lead and other bad stuff that could be present in jewelry.

What kinds of jewelry do people use with a teething babe??

Truthfully, I pretty much give up nearly all necklaces and earrings during the baby phase when I know that I am going to be with my little one (which is nearly all the time).  Heck, I even avoid wearing sunglasses due to the fact that they are always being pulled off my face and thrown on the ground.  It is mostly because I do not want baby to rip them off and break them or hurt me.  Of course, the lead and other toxic items could be an issue too.

There is one necklace that I do wear frequently - dd1 recently made me a wooden bead necklace for mothers day.  The beads are fairly large and dd2 (7 months) loves nawing on it.  It is rather lovely as dd1 carefully choose the pattern of beads and it is tied tightly.

I only wear earrings and not dangly ones! Tiny hoops. Necklaces haven't been successful. Bracelets only with secure clasps. And I wear my wedding rings.

DD does chew on other people's jewelry but not to the extent of taking paint off. She likes to look more than anything.
