I noticed white streaks on 3 yr old DD's tonsils today. She hasn't been acting sick, no recent fevers, no friends or family with a recent case of tonsilitis.
However, she has been walking around with her fingers stuck way far back in her mouth a lot over the past week or so - not something she had done prior to recently. When I ask her about it she doesn't have an answer. Until today after I noticed the white streaks and I was pressing her about whether her throat hurts (no), mouth hurts (no), anything feels funny (no), hard to swallow (hard candy is hard to swallow). Then she said having her fingers in her mouth makes it feel better. She's also been irritable or more difficult to reason with lately - I thought a phase but in hind site maybe related. And she's been having diarrhea which is typical for her when her body is under stress.
I'll probably call the pediatrician regardless tomorrow because we're actually trying to make the case to have her tonsils removed (they take up her entire throat and she is on a self imposed soft food diet to avoid choking, which she does frequently). But I'm just curious how common it is to have white streaks in the absence of an infection.
