question for multips....

Thread Starter

so yesterday, the baby dropped and I experienced a handful of braxton hicks in combination with period like cramping in my lower abdomen.  Dh says that there were noteworthy cervical changes yesterday.  I've also been having loose stools for a couple of days, nausea, and a nesting instinct.  This is my third pregnancy and I've been having braxton hicks for months now and am inclined to not think much of this but DH has a lot of work to do today and tomorrow and is planning on staying late to get it done and he has a half hour commute and we are sooo not prepared for birth yet--- I don't even have my pool or my yoga ball aired up!  I'm measuring somewhere around 37-38 weeks, so I know that it could be anytime between now and like 5 weeks from now.... my question is--- do I ask him to take a break from some of his work to help me run around and collect some things we need and get things ready for baby at home or do I just imagine it could still be a couple of weeks?

I was convinced that I would go a little later, but ended up birthing this time around at 38 weeks. I would say that at this point, it is certainly a good idea to get your proverbial ducks in a row, since it could be any time now. It sounds like your body is getting ready, but that could mean a baby today, tomorrow or in 2 weeks - you just never know!!

You will feel so much more settled if you just get everything ready. Do as much as you can on your own and make sure the absolute necessary items are in place. Maybe have DH help you for a half day or something like that tomorrow?

I would get everything done a.s.a.p but let dh get his work done if you can. If you go into labour soon, you'll be prepared and if you don't, it'll all be done and you won't have anything to stress about.
