I just read a thread about the costs of home birth vs. hospital birth and thought I'd forward on a good option to those who are already planning on a hospital birth (may cover birth center as well). Our #2 was planned and a month and a half before he was conceived we took out an Aflac policy, two actually where we payed about $111/month and once he was born (with a CNM, no interventions) we got back about $3500 without any hassle or red-tape, just filled in a single-sided form, sent it in and within a week we had a check for $3500, which ended up covering our out-of-pocket expenses. We got pregnant with our first the first time we tried and my cycle was really regular once it returned so we hoped that it wouldn't take long to get pregnant again. The catch is that the policy is "claimable" 10 months from the start date. So you definitely have to do the math and take your assumed fertility into consideration to see if it will help you but it sure was nice. So if you're interested, contact an Aflac person (btw, I do not and never have worked for Aflac :).
