Swollen eyelids

I just had a baby Tuesday via c-section and am still at the hospital with him. He has developed swollen, red eyelids that he can't even open. They were fine upon birth. I had our pediatrician look at him yesterday, but he just says it will go away. But it's not looking any better at all. I'm so stressed. Have any of you heard of this?

Sorry, no advice but I wanted to respond.  Are they goopy, or just swollen?

No goop. Just red and puffy. I put some breast milk on them and he actually was able to open one.

Did they give him the eye ointment at the birth? That can cause swollen eyes, I believe. Keep on with the breastmilk--and make sure anyone who touches him washes their hands first!

My DD's lids were swollen at birth. She came out that way (c-section), and was stuck at my cervix for hours on end during labor.

How is he lying most of the time? My LO had very swollen eyes because she was mostly lying face-down on my chest. We made a point of lying her face-up for a day and the swelling resolved.
