Reactions to water wrap

I recently received a water wrap from a friend and couldn't wait to try it out.  Last night, I took ds to the pool - I let him splash for a bit on his own but after he became cranky I decided it was time to put him in the wrap.  He was absolutely ecstatic about being in the water next to me. 

Since I live in a tiny  rural town not a lot of people are used to seeing babywearing, let alone in a swimming pool. 

I literally saw people pointing at me.  I felt like the reaction was really mixed about the water wrap.  I'm used to having people come up and say that they love the idea of wearing a baby - -  but with the water wrap, there was none of that.  A few people smiled but most look confused.

Has anyone else had experiences ....good or bad?

My cousin was weirded out that I didn't want to put my baby in the raft she brought for her little one, we were both perfectly content with our water wrap though.  I'm sorry you got that kind of reaction, it's hard to relax and have fun when others make you feel self conscious
