Does anyone here have a Beetle?

Thread Starter

We have a New Beetle and are having another little one in the near future. I know  one option would be to get a different car and I know that the New Beetles don't have the highest crash test rating, but for many varied reasons, we are not going to be getting a different vehicle.

For anyone who does have a Beetle, what infant car seats were you able to find that fit? Obviously, we can't try all of the seats in the store out in our car. Which seats did you have luck with? I'd like the safest rated seats from HealthyStuff.org, but obviously, we may have to go with the best we can get under the circumstances.

Thanks!

I don't own one but had one as a rental once and installed carseats iin it.  I'm not sure an infant seat would fit if you need the front passenger seat as well.  I installed DD's TrueFit in there RF, but the front seat had to be tipped all the way forward, not just slid but actually tilted forward.  Infant seats are likely a bit smaller, but not a lot.  THe Combi Cocorro is the smallest seat out there that fits a newborn, so I'd try that.   It is a convertible though.  But you may be stuck with a convertible in a car that size.

It's the only car I've actually had trouble fitting carseats in, and I've tried in a lot of (often smallish) cars.

Hello!  DH and I owned a New Beetle when DD was born.  DD rode in a Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat (equivalent to Graco Snugride 32 or 35).  I placed her behind the front passenger seat.  I drove the car most often.  When my husband drove the car I could easily/comfortably ride in the front passenger seat.  I am 5'9."
