Is my cold making my supply dry up???? D:

 I am a FTM to a four month old.  I just started getting a cold yesterday and today it is in full force.  Stuffy sinuses, postnasal drip, runny snot, the works...  I am BFing, but last night and today my breasts never really seemed to 'fill up' ever.  They are usually pretty full in the morning, and today they were just soft all day.  

I also took some black elderberry syrup yesterday and today before it occurred to me that maybe that is part of the problem?  Isn't that supposed to be safe for BFing?  

Is this normal with a cold, and will my milk come back in full force once this is over?  I am kind of worried...

4 months is a prime time for a mom to feel like she has less milk but for things to actually be fine.

Our breasts stop feeling full, we stop feeling letdown, baby starts to wake more at night.

If baby is having enough pees and is gaining well then more than likely your supply is fine.

Did you take anything else over the counter for your cold that has pseudoepedrine in it? That would be my worry to decrease supply.

No, not taking anything else.  Thanks for the link.  He is having enough diapers, so I will try to not worry about it!  :)

4 months and 8-9 months seem to be the times when we panic about supply when there really is no issue. You are not alone - I was right there with you but for me it was at 9 months when I started to wonder "am I making enough?"- then my little one went on a nursing strike and I got awfully engorged... and realized that I am still making a lot of milk!

Even if your supply has taken a small hit with your cold, usually drinking plenty of fluids and allowing baby to nurse on demand will bump things back up.
