Summer is here!

I'm 194 now so a total of 10lbs lost.

Must be a lot of work to be the thread keeper and try to keep up with everyone's evolution. Thanks pacificbliss! I appreciate this thread. There are a lot of names on that roster....wonder how many mamas are still here?

I am so blessed to have a wonderful organic garden in my backyard planted by some wonderful friends who live in a condo. They are giving me produce in exchange for the spot. I have been clipping kale and putting it in fruit smoothies that are just so delicious. I'm wondering if the kale is causing my babe to be gassy and fussy though? Any experience with this?

Congratulations Trekkingirl! Good progress. Thanks for the nice comment too. I keep forgetting I am threadmistress and fall behind. I have been thinking I should go through posts the last few months and maybe clean up some of the names. Maybe everyone will check in soon. I don't have any problems with DD reacting to things I eat but I have heard of broccoli, cabbage, dark leafy greens, etc causing problems.

Okay, mamas, I am back! So, my last posting was a long, long time ago and since then I have had another baby and gained a whole truckload of weight. I am currently 2 1/2 weeks postpartum with one little workout under my belt. I am trying to eat well and move around as much as possible.

Pacificbliss, can you please update my stats to:
current weight: 145
Goal weight:120 by December 2011

I am going to try to weigh in only once a week and focus more on how my clothes fit and how I feel instead of the number on the scale. I am happy to be back and look forward to getting rid of some weight!

May I join?

My current weight is 235 and my goal 190 by 2012. fingersx.gif  I want to have a VBAC and I figure the best thing I can do to achieve that is to lose some weight!

Good luck to the rest of you!

welcome mamapigeon and welcome back tracymom1

I have had two vbac's both in the hospital, drug free. My first vbac I weighed 235lbs at delivery and my second I weighed 220lbs? I think being a healthy weight going into a pregnancy is a great idea but I'm proof that you can still have a vbac regardless. My best advice that I can give is to wait to go into the hospital and just labor at home. The car is a horrible place to be during transition but well worth it to avoid a cesarian. The longer you're in the hospital the more chance you have to be subject to the intervention domino effect, lol!

OMG welcome back tracymom1! and jumpers.gif CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are updated. Looks like you were up to 23 lbs lost last time.

Welcome.gifmamapigeon!  My DD was a hospital VBAC (drug free). I am cheering for you!

hi

I need to join this thread for real! Current weight 150  Goal weight 120

I am 15 months pp and still 150- gah! I was 120 or sometimes less for years before getting pregnant so this 150 business is not sitting well with me!! I guess my metabolism has slowed way down? I am not sure what to do- I am reluctant to hold off on calories- I don't over eat at all but I don't diet at all- I am sort of stilll nursing- mostly pumping and nursing usually once a day. Anwyay- I am in petty poor shape and it is starting to get old so I guess I need to kick my butt into gear somehow!

ETA - okay- maybe I do need to diet! I guess there is no reason to think I can still eat whatever I want and expect to lose weight- is there? I guess it is time for me to get on the diet train and start eating more salds and less whatever I feel like all the time- I guess it really does require effort. I had one point in like where I was about 135 and I worked really hard at it and got down to 115- so I guess I need to prioritize the weight loss- tomorrow I will begin!

Trekkingirl and Pacificbliss, thank you for the encouragement! I love hearing positive stories about VBAC. joy.gif

I also had a successful VBAC (actually 2 HBACs). I agree that being in good physical shape is definitely a plus when starting out on the journey to a vaginal birth, but the most important thing is to prepare your MIND and your body!! And we are all here to help you with that part of the process, too, mamapigeon! joy.gif

Okay, so it is time for accountability. I tend to "underthink" what I eat and if I don't write it down for the world to see, then it must not exist, right??!!! So I will keep my daily food log on here so that I can see it every time I log in.

Yesterday: 30 minutes of strength training with weights, squats, jumping jacks and stretching.
Breakfast: bowl of raisin bran with skim milk, banana, 1 cup of coffee
Lunch: 1 skim cheesestick, saffron rice with green beans, 1 hard boiled egg and some blueberries
Snack: 1/2 cupcake (my DH works at a fancy cupcake place and I have recently begged him to stop bringing the crap home!!)
Dinner: gardenburger, snap peas, asparagus and a few cherry tomatoes
snack: handful of almonds

I always drink a whole lot of water and sometimes throw in a sparkling water... I almost always have a cup of coffee in the morning (1/2 coffee, 1/2 heated soy milk). My biggest, hugest, most annoying craving and first true love is Coca-Cola. Oh, Coke, how I love you so very much... why must you be the devil himself??!! So breaking the Coke habit was pretty darn hard - instead of a daily can I now have one 2-3x a week. I need to get rid of that crap but it is kind of my crutch right now because I literally do not sleep at night and feel very much like I need a treat sometimes!!

Hi Snapdragon. Welcome back! We actually had you on the list already smile.gif

tracymom1- I have to keep sweets out of the house. I have not learned how to stay away from them yet. If I bring something in it is just enough for DS to have a treat and no more.

tracymom1 I have been keeping a food log at babyfit.com it's part of sparkpeople. my sister likes the foodpyramid.gov site and a friend of mine uses myfitness pal. There are probably more out there but those are the ones I've heard of.

So after my husband and I both had dental emergencies that robbed our savings and dipped into our food budget, I had to graciously eccept some hand me down frozen food from family. It's all processed junk that I normally wouldn't buy but at least we have food. I am starting to see a lot of veggies ripening in the garden so that will be available soon. Tomorrow is payday and I can't wait to get some nutritious food. I want to get back to only snacking on fruits and veggies. I had more energy.

Anyways... some pics of the garden!

May I join??  I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and I have been wanting to lose weight...since long before I got pregnant!  I have been either pregnant and/or breastfeeding for 6 1/2 years now and my body is NOT the type to lose weight easily while bfing.  At the beginning of this last pregnancy I was up about 13 pounds from my pre-pregnancy with my first child so I have 'extra' that I'm wanting to lose.  My high was 172 and I got down to 148 within a week and a half of having the baby and now the scale is going back the other direction!!!!!  Bfing always makes me hungry, plus the fact that I'm at home all day and graze.  Not good.

Please add me to the list:

current weight: 152

goal weight: 125 by December 2011

I haven't started working out yet and can't wait.  However, since I'm still bleeding a bit I'm scared to get out there too much.  I stretch and do a bit of yoga, but nothing strenuous.  I'm hoping to find an app for my phone to keep track of what I eat.  Hopefully that will help keep that in check.  Then there is exercising with a newborn that only likes me to carry her...hmmm.

welcome amaayeh and congrats on the new little one. I am in northern cali too. Bay area to be specific. three little girls...awesome!

Thank you, Tracymom1. It means a lot to me to have people on my side. I definitely agree that I need to prepare myself mentally. I have a bad habit of stressing... sometimes I wonder if I could survive without it.

I think you're wise to allow yourself the occasional coke. If I go cold turkey, I usually end up binging.

Welcome.gifaamayeh! Congratulations on the baby! I have you added to the list!

trekkingirl- I have garden envy. It's beautiful.

trekkingirl - I'm in the Bay Area as well...Peninsula.  We just moved here last September...and got pregnant two weeks after we arrived!  It's been a whirlwind experience!  I'm so thrilled with the weather here (moved from Texas), but I feel like I haven't had a chance to go enjoy it yet.  Hopefully soon!!

How quickly do you all think it's ok to start back exercising??  I know I probably shouldn't be out running at this point, but I'm thinking some good long walks would do me good mentally and physically.

Also, do any of you have to deal with comments from someone (for me, it's my mother) about how she lost all the weight before she was 6 weeks ppd, etc.  Hell, the day she gave birth to me she weighed close to my goal weight!!  It's a struggle dealing with her and my weight issues (I can't imagine where I got them from!).

Hi I'd love to join. I'm post 3 losses in the last year and it's been up and down with the weight, it's so up it's scary. I was 10 lbs less than my pre-preg weight about a year after I had dd. Now I'm at bout 150 target is 135 ( my original pre-preg) weight. I want to lose some before getting preg again, which is on hold temp while I try to figure out what is going on.

welcome wendlynn sorry about your losses. I hope all your future losses are in inches and pounds!

yeah I deal with my mom's comments too. The other day I was walking in front of her and she has the nerve to say "baby got back"!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks mom, really?

tried to buy some shorts today at old navy. I concluded that I am too fat to wear shorts. It's a shame because It has been really hot here and I don't own any shorts. Even the bermudas were awful. I wear a size 12 normally but the 14 was too tight and the 16 was huge. IDK
