Veggies to plant in summer?

We just moved or else I would have started in the spring. :( Here's the pertinent information:

We now live in zone 8a.

We will have to garden in containers.

We want veggies.

Is there anything we can plant in July in our zone? It's so hot already, I just really want to start. Also can anyone share any good gardening info/tips/sites? Thanks!
