Food question during pregnancy - turkey

I am craving the Turkey BLT salad from Salad Works and just picked it up.  Don't ask me why I was not thinking but it has little chunks of turkey in it.  Not the slimy deli kind of turkey you get from behind the deli counter though. It's the thicker type of turkey, probably from a turkey breast I'm thinking?? Is this okay to eat or should I pick all the turkey out?  I'm starving and not sure what to do with it and surely don't want to heat my salad - LOL!

I'm pretty sure the listeria risk is from meat that has not been cooked well, is pre-packaged, or is left out in those deli cases where it is not necessarily well refrigerated.  I would assume chunked turkey breast was well cooked, not pre-packaged and then kept cold in the fridge until it was served to you.  But if you're unsure of the food handling at this particular restaurant you could pick it out, heat it, then throw it in the freezer for a bit, and then add it back onto your salad.  Or just pick it out.

My dh is a microbiologist at a ready to eat meat plant.  Your biggest concern is with deli meat.  Hopefully you already ate.  If you are really concerned in the future I would do as the previous poster suggests and heat/cool/eat.  But I have sat around at the holiday party listening to way to many stories....  My dh's plant is really clean.  Others - not so much.

I assume you've already eaten (or not) the turkey but picking it out, whether to heat or to throw away, isn't going to help because it has been in contact with the salad already so it will be contaminated if the turkey was contaminated.
