Logistics of heading to the pool

I have two toddlers.  One is about to turn three, but isn't really developmentally there yet, the other will be two in a couple months. We have a local outdoor pool with a nice zero entry end I plan to take them to.   I suspect they will be fine most of the time, but one of them still likes to nap midafternoon and I was toying with the idea of taking a pack and play for him to snooze in (in the shade, of course) if he got tired.   There is plenty of room to set this up, and I feel like it would help to keep him from being overrun by other kids who might be running around or being boisterous (the pool is set up so there is no requirement for parental supervision once kids are five- so sometimes kids are a little more rambunctious than I would like.)  Additionally, it seems like a safe place to 'hold' a child if I needed them somewhere for a moment to care for the other child.

Ideas?  Suggestions?  Thoughts?

At 2 I would worry about him being able to fall asleep and stay asleep.

When my DD's were little I would bring my double stroller and recline it back and baby would sleep in the stroller with a towel over the canopy for shade.

I never thought of the pack and play, I'd hate to have to lug that along with pool toys, towels, cooler and 2 toddlers.

Currently my kids are 7, 3 and 1.   As it stands now, if I do go to the pool, the double stroller will be coming with (makes a great seat for the baby to eat off a picnic bench seat) and a place to hold the 1 yr old if I have to.   Even last summer when they were 6, 2 and mos old, I would go home late afternoon and they would nap at home.   Our pool offers a hand stamp to come back.  And sometimes we would.   IMO there is nothing worse than an over tired toddler at the pool.

I haven't ventured to the pool with all 3 of them this summer....but we've been to the beach.  YDD isn't a big fan of water, so I wear her in the sling, while the others splash away.   Or I bring her up on the sand and let her dig!

I also prefer a stroller for naps. I like to know my LO is strapped in near water, and the stroller tends to help her fall asleep in an area with a lot of people. I find it easier to do short trips to the pool, so she's only napped there once or twice.
