What needs to be done for Mothering Magazine to be in waiting rooms?

Please move this if it's not in the right place thumb.gif I wasn't sure where to post...

I see Parenting magazine everywhere, of course. I even have mom friends who display Parenting in their living rooms as part of their magazine collections. Since that is a more mainstream magazine, I do understand that it is more widely distributed.

But I keep hoping, someday, I might actually see a Mothering one, and I never ever do. Is it just not distributed to doctor's offices at all? Or only in certain states? I live in Oregon.

It's be great if Mothering was more well known...Hell, I'd love for Mothering to become more popular than Parenting someday. But the only way for that to happen is if it's more widely distributed. Most of my mom friends have never even heard of you guys. Even the "crunchy" ones.

That's really sad! Do we all need to chime in and donate some money here so we can start seeing it around the country more? If you only do subscriptions, it doesn't get the word out to people who have never heard of it...So what's the deal here?

Mothering is no longer a magazine in publication. Please read this: http://www.mothering.com/subscribe

There are back issues available, which would be great to distribute in waiting rooms. Check out shop.mothering.com for back issues.

When is the 'subscribe to mothering' part of the banner that's on every page going to be changed?  (Top right corner).

It makes me sad every time I see it.

FWIW,
When Mothering Magazine was in print, my both my OB and my ped had it in their waiting rooms.

Adaline'sMama, it is so awesome to hear that your OB and ped had it in their offices!  If only more mainstream doctors would open up to the ideas that Mothering holds dear!  I think we'd have a healthier kinder world!  I miss the print publication greatly!

Maybe brochures on MDC and natural parenting could be made .... And MDC members could drop them off at our peds, ob's and health food stores?

Either we coukd do a fund drive for it or members could contribute 20 bucks for 200 brochures to distribute ....

I think so many of us wonder whatt kind of parents we might have been if we had nit stumbled on MDC.

I love the brochure/little circular idea! I was just at my OB/GYN office today and they had a WebMDBaby 10 page magazine-ish on all the mag tables. I picked it up and only got through 3 pages but topics included how to interpret you baby's cries, how to properly bottle-feed, and an oh-my-gosh, she must be crazy/super woman article about some actress doing natural childbirth. It would be awesome if Mothering had a similar thing and I would totally pay to get some to distribute.

I would totally pay for it too ... It's that important.

If someone at Mothering wanted to design a brochure that we could download and print or have printed that would be awesome. Id send the file to my Fedex and have some printed to take to my OB and ped.

I remember wishing for that when there was a magazine- to advertise the forum and magazine

I hope this doesn't sound snarky- I don't intend that- but I don't really understand how to market the forums here w/o the magazine to be part of the product.
