Jewelry

I'm wondering about the safety of some of my jewelry with a teething baby. I was just given a large Amber pendant (set in silver) and I'd like to wear it on a long silver chain. DS is teething and everything goes in his mouth so I'm concerned about lead and other bad stuff that could be present in jewelry. But I feel like I saw something *somewhere* about amber teething necklaces.

What kinds of jewelry do people use with a teething babe??

I used amber teething necklace for DD but they are not meant to be chewed on from what I read (someone correct me if I am wrong. I am not big on jewelry so can't tell you how safe it would be for your child to put your pendant in his mouth but I would worry about choking.

This is were we got ours, I used one for my carpel tunnel and it worked well as well. She is a sweet heart!

Amber teething jewelry is not for chewing on. However, if you want to wear pendants that CAN safely be chewed on, there are lots of 'nursing necklaces' on Etsy.com that are made with natural wooden teething rings.

Personally, we just taught DS NOT to chew on jewelry, or tug on earrings, or anything like that. Keeping a small toy handy in a pocket or purse to distract him worked well, and I was able to keep wearing all my regular jewelry w/o problems. Making sure you do always have something safe for him to teethe/chew on is your best option.
