I've been noticing a definite shift in my menstrual cycles. I'm trying to figure out if it's an "age thing" or something to do with my diet, or related to stress, and if it is an "age thing" (I'm 38), if it means that I'm approaching menopause, or if it means menopause could still be 15 years away.
I've been charting my cycles pretty carefully since my oldest was a baby. At times I did it to avoid pregnancy (with or without barrier methods during my fertile time) and at times I did it just to keep in touch with my body. I've been using Fertilty Friend for years, and now I stick with it because it has all my data. Here's the link to my chart (I hope this works!) I haven't taken my basal body temperature in years- I find it an incredibly hassle, so I only bothered with it when I was TTA (trying to avoid pregnancy). But based on cervical mucus (CM)and cervical position (CP) I just don't see how I could have ovulated any later than day 16 this month.
That leaves me with a 16 day luteal phase! All my life, I've had 14 day LPs, except the first few cycles after having a baby, when my LPs would be 12 or 13 days. But I've never had an LP longer than 14 days, up until a few months ago. At first, I wasn't sure- maybe I didn't chart carefully enough and I miscalculated ovulation. Maybe I didn't ovulate at all that month. But I paid much closer attention this month and it does, indeed, seem that my LP is longer than it used to be.
Is this a normal change for a 38 year old woman? What's going on with my body?
