I want to try some silk painting but I am...constantly supervised by a toddler and a preschooler so I don't want to use anything that remotely toxic.

 

I know one can dye with kool aid and with food coloring provided one uses vinegar...I was wondering if anyone has painted with these. I was thinking a super concentration of dye in vinegar might do the trick. The one drawback I for see is heat setting but I was considering either dropping the whole thing in the dryer.

 

I was also thinking of doing the whole blue glue "batik"

 

What other things can you paint on silk?
