Cheapest online enrollment for elementary school?

Hey guys,

My family, and a group of other homeschoolers from a country where homeschooling is technically illegal, have been looking for administrative solutions to allow us to keep up homeschooling legally. I've posted about this on here before, but I have questions for anyone who is familiar with online elementary schools from the US. At the moment, some employees at the local ministry of education have been telling us that enrolling children in US-based online schools would be fine.

Since we'd only want them to legalize our status as homeschoolers, and not for actual curricula or support, the question is - which of these programs is cheapest?

At the moment, I know about K-12 and Clonlara for elementary, and a few high school programs too. The cheapest I have found thus far is Clonlara, at around $1,000 a year. They offer tuition support that we don't need or want, but also official enrollment. Any "pay for enrollment only" type online schools around?

I just found this, and thought others may be interested too:

At $595 for a full-year program, this is reasonably priced!

ETA - the mentioned price is for K only, the price jumps up after that.

Are you temporarily out of country?  Meaning, do you maintain "residence" status in the states at all?  If so, I thought K12 was supposed to be free.  We did CVA this last year -- it was free, actually we got a budget to use.  However, you need to be WA resident.

No, we are settled in another country (though considering moving due to homeschooling being illegal here - but it wouldn't be to the US).

I am interested for myself, as well as a group of families who all hold the citizenship of the country we live in. I would prefer a US-based program for cultural reasons, but UK-based would work too.

What is CVA?

OK, I get it.

CVA is Columbia Virtual Academy.  We loved it this year, unfortunately there have been some recent changes in the law in WA state and I don't think we will remain enrolled.  I expect to just send in my dec. of intent and return to a true homeschool status.

Thanks. That sounds nice, but obviously not suitable for us.

Any other suggestions appreciated, including for forums where there are more homeschoolers than there seem to be at MDC at the moment, and where folks may know.

There is something in Canada called "self design" that is very flexible.  Maybe that would suit you.  It seems like it might be cheaper.  Depending on how much support you wanted.

Sounds like you want an "umbrella" type program. I know of one called Pinnacle School (pinnacleschool.com) that is very cheap. I haven't used it myself, but I heard about it from a legit source. I'm not sure if they accept international students, but you could ask. I think there are more programs like that out there too. Maybe one will fit your need.
