So I've recently learned about the way foods affect our body pH and how an overly acidic body pH is a breeding ground for disease. Unfortunately the typical Western diet is based on foods that have an acidifying effect on the body: flour, sweets, meat, cheese, alcohol, coffee, and lots of other delicious food.

 

I have been trying to eat a more alkaline diet, and making green smoothies for breakfast every day. I would like to work up to a green smoothie cleanse, anywhere from 1-7 days depending how I feel and how hard it actually is.

 

Does anyone else have experience with making your diet more alkaline? Did it help heal anything and/or do you feel better?

 

I know there are so many people out there claiming this or that diet or supplement or nutritional information is THE thing to heal everything, and this is kind of in that category. But this is the first one that just makes sense to me. I mean, even if the science behind it is not stable, a more alkaline diet (cutting back grains and sweets, coffee, alcohol, dairy, etc and basing the diet around fruits and veggies) is definitely healthier. But then again a quick google search yielded plenty of sites claiming this is all nonsense (as well as ones claiming it is the best way to health). IDK, I figure I'll give it a try, but I'm not hardcore about it or anything. I would like to lose about 10 pounds and I have what are supposedly telltale signs of an overly acidic body: joint pain and allergies. Those I am ready to be rid of and traditional medicine has nothing to offer.

 

Anyone else have experience with an alkaline diet?
