Wool underwear sizing question

Hi there. I know this is sort of off-season to be talking woolies but I had a quick question. We've never done undergarments before but would like to start this winter. My son shouldn't be too difficult to size, he's a fairly average build. However, my daughter is very atypical in her shape and she is really hard to dress. Usually we shop at the thrift store so we always find stuff that works for her, but there's a lot of brands that we just can't get away with. Without being too crude about it, she's short and thick, especially around the middle. Huge belly, big bottom, very chunky thighs. She's very strong, gets tons of exercise, eats healthy foods, etc. and is just fine according to her pediatrician - she just definitely takes after DH's side of the family, the women in which are all built like that. Anyway, I'm wondering what we should do about undergarment sizing. She has long arms, but typically what fits her in the chest size-wise comes down only to about her belly button, if that. And whatever fits over her poor little butt is sized up so it's so long that it has to be folded up at the ankles. Am I going to have any luck with woolens? I keep reading not to size up, but I really don't know how to go about it otherwise.

I don't have any wool underwear, but I would say that sizing up couldn't hurt--it will fit later if not now. Maybe you could call the place you plan to purchase them from and talk sizing with them? smile.gif

I think sizing up is fine!  I was afraid to because I wanted the woolies to be snug enough to fit under clothes but it turned out we could have gone up even two sizes.  They are very stretchy.  You could always return them if you don't like the fit.  One thing to keep in mind when washing them is that if the shrink they will get shorter but not much narrower... so if length of shirt is important definitely size up.

I think sizing up is good too. It's cost effective too! When the arms are too long you can just roll them up a bit. And wool stretches a lot, so don't worry about full tummy's.
