Paraguard and discharge

I got my paraguard on June 2, had minimal bleeding....then snot looking discharge for a few weeks. Now it's more normal...but yet it's watery and clear. And Now i notice a distinct odor. It's not fishy....but it's a odor...and I know it's not a normal odor for me. I mean it might be normal for a paraguard....but i'm wondering if anyone else noticed a distinct odor with their paraguard. I want to ask my husband what he thinks...but...i'm almost embarased to ask him. We are living in the Dominican Republic right now and I do not want to try to find a doctor just to tell me it's normal. ya know....so tell me what and if you noticed a distinct odor too.

Well, I know that one of the relatively common side effects with paraguard is you can be prone to things like yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. (Last summer I got both at the same time, super fun times, but fortunately neither came back). What you're describing could be BV, which has no real side effects other than causing a slight odor. They can diagnose it in like 5 minutes at the OB/GYN, and it's easily treatable with a suppository or pill.

I think it is BV, i did some research online and found some natural remedies for it. I've started those and pray pray pray that it start to help ASAP! If no improvement in a few days i will go get the meds then. Here in the Dominican you can purchase anything from the pharmacy. So i dont have to go through a doctor. Thank heavens!

I had paraguard inserted a month ago. I wanted to get off the pill because of hormones. I have never had children. The insertion was quite uncomfortable but It only lasted a few minutes. I had cramping most of that day and some of the next. I wanted to share my story as some of the posts I read scared me. So far I love it. I just got my period. I had no cramping. My period on the pill was practically non existent, so the second and third day was normal to heavy. Best of luck to anyone getting one! So far I'm very happy and I can tell the difference in my body now that there are no hormones.
