Hopelessly confused on progesterone suppository start date!

Hi -  I'm new to this forum and am hoping to get some advice.  i'm so confused...my nurse practitioner prescribed endometrin progesterone suppositories.  she said i should start treatment as soon as my fertility monitor says i'm at peak. BUT when i read about others who have been prescribed this, almost all say they didn't start until 24-48 hours post ovulation.  i'm so worried about taking them to early and just looking for some advice.  i had a miscarriage earlier this year and have been super worried/neurotic about ttc again.  help if you can..i very much appreciate it. :)

i will also spend some time searching for other posts like this, so apologies if this topic have already been covered...

welcome!

you shoudl start the prog. after ovulation, if you do it before your temp shift, you coudl delay your ovulation by a few days...or more.

do you chart? that woudl help a lot!

good luck!

You really should have monitoring to see when you ovulate and start after that. If you have low progesterone, your temps probably wont go up in time. But, if you take them too early, you can stop O from happening.

thanks!  i don't chart; i only use the CB fertility monitor.  i sorta thought that the cbfm was good enough to use on it's own w/out charting?   At any rate, maybe i'll start the progesterone after my second peak day. but if it doesn't work out this time, i'll start charting next month.   thanks very much for the advice!

tdor, welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I recently had one as well and I imagine I'd be similarly anxious. My doctor doesn't have me do progesterone supplementation without doing bloodwork first, but always after ovulation. I would call back and confirm that your doctor wants you to start that early, just to be sure. Otherwise I don't see how the endometrin wouldn't prevent you from ovulating (although obviously I don't know your situation and there may well be a good reason they are recommending that way).

hi gozal -  thanks for your reply!  i'm so sorry about your loss as well..  i did have my bloodwork done and progesterone was low (5.6 taken 7 dpo). how many days post ovulation did your dr. direct you to start the supplements?   i may just have to email her and ask more questions.  i've been asking so many questions i'm starting to feel bad!  my situation otherwise is not that out of the norm, i think.  my cycles have been a bit irregular since the d&c; but i think they are getting back to their typical duration now.   i've had other bloodwork done and the only thing of concern seems to be the progesterone.   this is all so overwhelming..sigh...
