Depressed

Thread Starter

I was diagnosed with GD last week (I'm 31 weeks pregnant). I've been strictly following my diet plan and walking but my fasting numbers in the morning are consistently high - 96 to 105. I've upped the exercise since yesterday and my numbers went even higher :(. As a result, I find out tomorrow if I am going to go on insulin. Anyone out there on insulin who can give me some words of encouragement? Can you use the insulin pen as opposed to just a regular shot (I of course have quite a needle phobia).

I also keep reading online about the increase risk of still born births, c sections and this possibly not going away after labor. It's got me super stressed out and sad. This is my second pregnancy, my daughter was 9 5 and I didn't have GD with her (that I knew of).

Welcome to MDC!  wave.gif   I don't have any advice to give or experience to share, but I wanted to give you hug2.gif.   I'm sure other mamas will chime in soon with encouraging words of wisdom.

Don't worry mama! join the GD support thread below this one. Its not as bad as you think. the birth defects and other issues are for mama who have really uncontrolled blood sugars. try eating a snack at night o help your morning numbers. Mine have been as high as 122 in the mornings and I can't get them down, and might be put on insulin. I understand how you feel.
