I am definitely not ttc but I figured this was the best place to ask. My cycles are fairly irregular so I never really know if I am late or whatever, I just start to notice when it's been awhile. Anyways I decided to do a detox kit to try and jumpstart my period but I always take a pg test first just to be on the safe side. I took a Clearblue Plus+ test (blue dye) because it was on sale and there was a faint positive within 30 seconds. It is not so faint that you have to squint or anything. I really don't think I am pregnant so I'm wondering if anyone has had false positves on these tests. I don't really want to go by another test but I will if I have to. Any input appreciated!

Check out http://www.peeonastick.com. I have heard that the + positive tests are less reliable. The tests that only have a control line and test line seem to be more accurate.

If it works at all like the EPT, here's my experience with that. I googled obsessively and it took me a few days to be fully convinced I was pregnant, lol. (and usually I'm one to be like, a line is a line!! quit analyzing!) So from what I discovered about EPT, which is a blue dye +/- test, is that it can sometimes have false positives in which the test line is not full thickness. Its a little bit to the left and if you look closely, looks kinda dotted. In my case, I first got a thin/dotted "postitive" test (no idea how many DPO, wasn't charting or regular) I sort of suspect that that wasn't a REAL positive. However, the next day, I got a very VERY faint real (as in, full thickness) positive. dh couldn't even see it, and honestly did not even believe I was pregnant. I was able to get it to show up on camera though. I confirmed over the next couple days with dollar store tests. which was even more confusing because the first dollar test was as faint as the EPT. Then the 2nd dollar test was, if possible, MORE faint. So I thought maybe it was a sign I was going to have a very, very early miscarriage. Luckily, the 3rd dollar test was a little bit more conclusive! Sticky baby, kickin away.Â

Anyway.. the bottom line is, if you see a line.. you're probably pregnant. :) Congrats! Go pick up a couple dollar tree tests and test again!Â

Yeah.. a line is a line but if its oddly thin and offcentered, be suspicious if its a blue ink +/- test. And regardless, test again with a pink test!
LMAO! As often happens the second I went and spent the money on another test and took it my period started! So it was definitely not a real positive. My sister always says the best way to get your period to start is to waste the money on a pg test. Alls well that ends well, thanks for the input!
