A couple months ago I read a post (it could have been in a due date group) about preparing for a homebirth.  This particular poster had put pictures of all the baskets that she had prepared with what items were in them.  I would love if someone could link me to this.  Thanks in advance!

It was you.  You win a really big thank you.  This is my 2nd homebirth and I really liked how you had things in smaller baskets where they needed to be.  My first homebirth I just kept everything in one big basket, but it seemed to cause more confusion.   THANK-YOU     !namaste.gif

Kawa Kamuri,
Have you had that baby yet? If so, what did you wind up returning to the store?

He was born on June 22nd at 41w4d. joy.gif

I returned:

- chux as I had some left over from the previous birth which were left over from my grandmother. I bled A LOT after birth and still had one chux pad left.

- enema

- a second tarp for covering the pool. this was a nonsense purchase since my labours are short/never left the pool but I was all in must be prepared mode.

- straws

- one package of gauze pads

- antibacterial soap

- Tucks. I was ready for WW3 on my bottom but baby was considerably smaller than the one prev so there was minimal discomfort. I used to claim that baby size didn't make much of a difference but after the last two, who shared very similar births, I've changed my tune.

- would have returned the fish net since it went unused but my daughter unwrapped it and caught toys in it.

- didn't open the arnica or olive oil but kept them.

- didn't have time for antibiotics but obvs those aren't returnable.

- still need to sell both pools

The sound I remember most from that morning was plastic trash bag sounds. How terrible! If I had to do it again I'd talk with my MW about eliminating those bags or possibly opening them and having the contents set out during early labour. Most of that stuff went unused. I would have also purchased even smaller pads and panty liners as the bleeding settled down very quickly and I ended up at the store at about 1w pp buying smaller sizes. Otherwise it was perfect!
