I did a castor oil milkshake last night and was contracting regularly, but not at all painfully when I went in this morning for my NST in l&d. However, I had protein in my urine this time and the doctor wanted to order labs to see if everything was okay. I seem to be falling apart lately. lol. The labs and the urine (caught via cath- OMG! OUCH!) came back okay, but in the meantime the doctor saw my u/s results from yesterday (9 lbs 9 oz plus or minus 1 lb 7 oz). He was really concerned about shoulder dystocia because on Wednesday he predicted the baby would be under 9 lbs. So he asked me to do a c/s. I said no. We talked about the possible outcomes, which I already knew because I'm an obsessive googler. I still told him no.
I called my DH while I was still waiting for the labs. DH and I talked about it, the risks, the benefits and everything. Oh, and the fact I gave myself another hemorrhoid the night before because of the castor oil experience. We decided to just do it. I couldn't live with myself if something was to happen and the only thing holding me back was my pride and fear of being judged.
So Aubrey Jane was born at 2:58. Would you believe she was 9 lbs 9 oz exactly and 20.5" long. LOL. I about fell over. U/S are usually never accurate this late in the game. She had really low blood sugar so I nursed her as soon as I could. We nursed and nursed and nursed and when they took her blood sugar the numbers stayed the same. So it was either do the IV or .5 oz of formula. It must be opposite day in my world today I swear. I decided to have DH give her formula, which was totally weird. He hasn't FF anyone in 8 years. Her glucose levels came up to an acceptable level right away and now we're back to nursing like a champ.
I will post a pic eventually. My body is just too sore and DH is back at the house with the other kids.
