41+6 days! What a relief to give birth!!!

Labor started at 12:30am and he was out at 2:24. It was intense, almost like one long contraction at times. I pushed for 15 minutes. His head came out with his hand on his cheek. For such a quick labor and such a big boy (with a hand on his cheek), I was relieved to hear I had no tears or skid marks!

Stats:

9.7lbs

21" long

He's nursing like a champ and I feel fantastic!

And now dh and I can't decided which spelling of Sander/Xander we like best. We love the look of Xander Leopold but have never been a fan of "x" names. Or would people pronounce it "Z"ander if it was Xander?  What do you all think?

DDCC to say congratulations! And it's always so nice to hear stories of big babies that don't cause a lot of tearing or a terribly drawn out pushing stage.

I think if you choose X he'll always, always be having to spell it for people. That may or may not be something that bothers you. (My last name isn't phonetic at all and I wish it was easier for people to spell; as it is they sometimes seem to not believe that something that sounds like "Brian" is spelled b-r-e-y-n-e.)

I voted for Xander, just because I like it more, but I do agree that Sander would be easier to spell/pronounce.  I myself might pronounce Xander as Zander. . . .

It looks like I'm the only one who voted for Sander so far!  I love it, and have never met one.  Xander I've met a few of, and they are always pronounced Zander - like the end of Alexander.

Congratulations!  Yay for no tears, my birth was similar (9 lbs 12 oz) and very fast at the end, but ouch!

I vote for Sander if you want it to be said that way.  Xander just seems like it would be pronounced with a Z.

 I've always pronounced it Al-ex-ander, and thought the x made a s sound. We're so close to having a name for this little one! This last decision is difficult... Dh is going for the x with "s" pronunciation.... I'm on the fence...

I do pronounce Alexander with an 's' but if I saw Xander, I'd pronounce it Zander.   I voted before I read the post <oops>. If you want it to be S, I'd go with Sander :)

Same here. I read your post, but somehow missed the part where you said you wanted it pronounced with an "s". If that's the case I'm changing my vote to Sander.
